Joe Lolley scored a hat trick as Nottingham Forest ran away with the match at the City Ground, scoring 3 goals in the final 10 minutes before halftime. Birmingham’s Gary Gardner chipped in a consolation goal at 65 minutes.
Despite the lopsided scoreline, Birmingham managed 7 shots on target and were able to move freely into attack on too many occasions for the Forest manager’s liking. “Our defending is still a bit janky, but I’ll take the criticism for that. We have the personnel and will figure it out.”
The long day for Birmingham began at 35 minutes when Lewis Grabban spun behind a flat-footed Michael Morrison to take a one-time pass from Ryan Yates over the top of the defense.
